ArtZen for MHC: A Gathering for Reflection, Power, and Connection

ArtZen for MHC: A Gathering for Reflection, Power, and Connection

ArtZen for MHC: A Gathering for Reflection, Power, and Connection

Life moves quickly.

Many of us are carrying a lot — decisions, responsibilities, transitions, questions that don’t always have clear answers.

This gathering is a pause.

Not to fix anything.

Not to optimize ourselves.

But to listen — inwardly and together.

ArtZen offers a quiet, guided space to slow down, reconnect with what you’re feeling beneath the noise, and remember the kind of clarity that comes from being present in your body, not just your thoughts. We’ll move gently between reflection and experience — thinking and sensing — so insight doesn’t stay abstract, but becomes felt.

Through breath, simple creative expression, and shared reflection, many people discover a renewed sense of steadiness — a feeling of personal power that comes not from pushing harder, but from understanding oneself more deeply. And in being alongside others doing the same, connection happens naturally, without pressure.

This is time for yourself.

And time with others who understand the season you’re in.

DTLA MOCA Art Gathering

DTLA MOCA Art Gathering

Enjoying contemporary art and MHC alums!!!

Location: MOCA Grand 250 S Grand Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90012

What: MoCA Grand Focus: Ana Segovia In his paintings, Ana Segovia (b. 1991, Mexico City) twists assumptions about masculinity through a queer lens. Working with an aggressive palette of fluorescent colors, daring compositions, and cinematographic framing and cropping, Segovia undermines the gendered basis of national identity built around hypermasculine archetypes—such as the charro or cowboy—that have been standardized by film. The artist, who is a direct descendent of major players in the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema, an era spanning from the early 1930s to the late 1960s, has been using film stills drawn mostly from this auspicious tradition as a source for his paintings. Ordinary People: Photorealism and the Work of Art since 1968 Reexamining the postwar art movement of photorealism and tracing its lineages in art of the present day, Ordinary People: Photorealism and the Work of Art since 1968 includes more than forty artists (largely though not exclusively North American), spans the 1960s to the present, and features paintings, drawings, and sculptures. This historical, scholarly, group exhibition recovers the social art history of photorealism and complicates its meaning as a realism.
